Need to get moving!
I really need to sit down one evening and do my student finance! Apparently it takes up to an hour so need to get cracking might do it tonight hmmm.
What I've been up to
Last week at college I done lots of printing, it's so easy and quick! Mainly focusing on lino printing hopefully this week I get to try some more, different types of printing!! Also tried knitting wasn't too bad at it surprisingly. Used the heat press for the first time last week, it made some amazing designs and so simple.

Interviews..
Uni's are starting to reply to my offers I already have an interview for UCA Farnham to study Textiles with Fashion and Interiors eeek. Also UWIC have offered me an interview for 2 weeks time! I asked for an alternative date because 2 weeks is way too soon. Plus I need to get my portfolio together!!!! It's all happening so fast it's scary (ahhh)... but exciting :D
Issues
I'm having a major issue starting my new sketch book. I keep starting it then ripping out pages because I don't like them. Maybe I'm being fussy but I really want this sketch book to be unique and amazing because it's one of the sketch books I'm taking to my interviews for uni. Hopefully by tomorrow I will have some idea of how to start it...
Designing
Today at college we chose what we wanted to do for our final Fashion/Textiles outcomes. I chose to incorporate a bit of Fashion and Textiles into my outcome. For my textiles final piece I want to create a printed patterned wallpaper with maybe a cushion of chair cover. All of these outcomes will have the same pattern that we design from our brief, Magnification. Looking at the idea of cells and Magnified objects etc. For my Fashion outcome we all have to do the same items of clothing but with our own unique pattern on. We have to create a Cape, Tie and Collar that uses fabrics that link in well with each other, also that link with the theme of Magnification. We created drawings and colour samples to link with Autumn Fashion and Interior colour's. I decided to look at purples, pinks, plums, creams and oranges for my colour's. I'm excited to get started and decide on my pattern so I can get PRINTING :D

My Love for a brand new sketch book
The one thing I love the most is getting a brand new sketch book. The one thing I hate the most is starting it. Today a bought a square one. I wanted one which was decent and had a good number of pages so I could fill it to the brim with samples and experimentation ready for my university interviews. I never know which size to choose because I never know which one will work best for me in a specific project, but square is what I've gone for :). In my sketch book this time round I really want to add more first and second hand study drawings, because I feel like usually I don't have many and I want to ensure I get the highest grade possible by covering the brief criteria.
Making Felt
The first day back at college after the Christmas break, and wasn't I pleased to be back in the place I feel comfortable. I was beginning to become so bored at home not having the correct equipment to experiment with. This whole first week back is RESEARCH week, where we become familiar with our new brief and begin to research everything about it. We got taught how to make felt, I've made it before but in a different way, so it was interesting to see the other ways in which you can make it. With felt the process itself is quite tedious but I think the outcomes can be beautiful it's so interesting how small fibres can be bonded together using only water, soap and a bit of elbow grease. I hope to continue experimenting with felt by stitching over it and combining it with other fabrics. Below are some photos of my felt.
Screen Printing at college.
Today at college me and a friend decided to try screen printing. It's been a while so I thought why not! I actually forgot how much I love printing, there's so many types and you can get some amazing prints. I started printing on plain white paper using black ink, then went on to printing on newspaper to create an interesting combination. I love the effects a simple stencil and some ink can create. Tomorrow or sometime next week I want to try printing on fabric, all different types. Hopefully I can build up prints that can be displayed in my sketch book or portfolio. I also want to try using colours and seeing how I can manipulate fabrics after printing on them. I will upload some photos next week some time.
It's really happening
So excited that I've finally sent my UCAS application off :) It's all starting to become real ahhhh :D
Just getting started!
Hey guys welcome to my new blog :) basically I’m going to write about Art and the things that interest me within Art and especially TEXTILES, my chosen subject at university. I will also share with you my passions and the things I’ve created (within Art, Design and Textiles) during the day/week.
